Vietnamese Teachers' Day Flowers for Parents — Class Group Orders, Budget and Card Wording

Vietnamese Teachers' Day Flowers for Parents — Class Group Orders, Budget and Card Wording

When it comes to Vietnamese Teachers’ Day flowers for parents, the gentlest options are either pooling together as a class for one large bouquet, or sending your child to school with a small bouquet and a card in hand. A cash envelope can easily be misunderstood, so it’s best avoided. If your child attends a Vietnamese school, messages like “How much should we spend on flowers?” will soon start appearing in the class Zalo group, and if it’s your first time, both the amount and the card wording can feel daunting. When you choose with the teacher in mind, though, the answer turns out to be quite simple. In this guide I’ve gathered how to organize a class group order, how to work out a budget, flowers from HAMYFLORE’s actual price range, Vietnamese phrases for the card, and the delivery timeline, all based on November 20, 2026 (a Friday).

Do parents really have to send flowers?

There’s no obligation at all. If you do send something, flowers and a card are the least burdensome choice. Vietnamese Teachers’ Day isn’t a public holiday but a regular school day, and some schools hold only a ceremony and finish early. In each class, students often bring flowers or cards to say thank you.

School attitudes are changing these days, too. According to a November 2025 VnExpress report, one primary school in Quang Tri province announced that parents should not collect money or use the class fund to buy gifts for teachers, and a secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City featured in the same article used last year’s occasion to arrange health insurance for 89 students from struggling families instead of flowers and cakes. So the first step is to check the school’s notice or the guidance from your class parent representative.

Something I’ve come to realize while choosing flowers is that a single card tucked inside often holds more of your heart than the size of the bouquet. This is a day when a small bouquet carrying the class’s feelings suits better than a large sum.

How do you collect for a class group gift?

A class group gift is usually collected like this. The class parent representative suggests an amount in the Zalo group, and parents who agree send it by bank transfer. The representative then uses the money to buy one large bouquet or gift and gives it in the class’s name.

In the stories I looked into, what caused friction was often less the amount and more “how the money was collected.” That’s why taking part should always be voluntary. A November 2025 Cafebiz report covered a parent in Ho Chi Minh City who felt pressured by the class representative’s message saying “42 parents agreed, 35 had already transferred,” and shared it online. Reactions were mixed. Some said participation should be voluntary, while others said the parents’ committee had simply announced a set deadline. When deciding the amount, it’s kind to set it at a level that families on a tighter budget can also manage comfortably.

If you’re a foreign parent, a Vietnamese-language group chat can feel a little overwhelming. In that case, just sending the representative one line, “Our family will join (Gia đình bé ___ xin tham gia ạ),” is enough, and writing your child’s name in the transfer note makes it easier for the representative to keep track.

How much should the Teachers’ Day flower budget be?

There’s no fixed amount per parent. Simply follow what your class agrees on. When collecting as a group, working out the total first as “number of parents × amount per person” gives you a good sense of what kind of flowers you can get. The per-person amounts in the table below are examples to help with the math, and I’ve calculated them in advance for different class sizes.

Parents in class30,000 VND each50,000 VND each100,000 VND each
15450,000 VND750,000 VND1,500,000 VND
20600,000 VND1,000,000 VND2,000,000 VND
30900,000 VND1,500,000 VND3,000,000 VND

If you’re giving flowers only, about 600,000 to 1,500,000 VND per class is enough for a thoughtful bouquet. If there’s money left over, a card written together by the children in the class is a lovely addition.

Which flowers suit each budget?

From the flowers HAMYFLORE actually sells, I’ve picked out the ones that suit Teachers’ Day, sorted by price. I went back through each product photo one by one and chose only arrangements without chrysanthemums. Since seasonal flowers can change, leaving a short note saying “please leave out chrysanthemums” when you order makes it certain.

BudgetSuggested flowersGood for
400,000 VNDYellow Lily Bouquet (lilies, gerberas, alstroemeria)A personal gift your child gives, subject teachers
600,000 VNDBlue Carnation BouquetA small group of parents, a smaller class gift
700,000 VNDPastel Carnation BouquetA group gift for the homeroom teacher
700,000 VNDPink Carnation Grand BouquetWhen you’d like a generous armful of carnations
1,000,000 VNDPink Hydrangea Bouquet (hydrangeas, carnations)A class gift from around 20 parents
1,500,000 VNDPink Carnation & Tulip BouquetA class of around 30, a large bouquet

Carnations carry gratitude and respect, which is why they suit Teachers’ Day so well. If you’re curious about the meaning behind each flower, I’ve covered it, including what each orchid color means, in the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day flower guide.

Vietnamese Teachers' Day flowers for parents — a hydrangea and carnation bouquet with a message card

HAMYFLORE’s Pink Hydrangea Bouquet (1,000,000 VND), a Vietnamese Teachers’ Day gift from parents. We tuck your message card between the hydrangeas and carnations.

What’s the difference between giving individually and giving as a class?

As a rule, individual gifts are small and light, while class gifts are larger and more formal. If your child will carry the flowers on the way to school, a petite bouquet around 400,000 VND is easy for little hands to hold.

Flowers given in the class’s name usually sit in the classroom or teachers’ room where many people will see them, so a fuller bouquet suits them. On the card, write the class name, such as “From all the parents of Class ___,” so it’s clear whose wishes it carries.

The same flower can take on a different meaning depending on where it goes. For the homeroom teacher, graceful carnations or hydrangeas feel right, and for an arts or PE teacher your child is close to, a small bouquet in bright colors feels natural.

What Vietnamese phrases should go on the card?

One or two short, sincere sentences are plenty. Female teachers are addressed as cô and male teachers as thầy, so just swap that word as needed.

Vietnamese phraseMeaning
Chúc mừng ngày Nhà giáo Việt Nam 20/11!Happy Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20!
Cảm ơn cô đã tận tâm dạy dỗ con.Thank you for teaching my child with such care.
Kính chúc cô luôn mạnh khỏe và hạnh phúc.Wishing you good health and happiness always.
Tập thể phụ huynh lớp ___ kính tặng cô.With respect, from all the parents of Class ___

At HAMYFLORE, if you share your card message when you order, we’ll tuck it in with the flowers and send you a photo of the finished bouquet before delivery. Writing a line from your child in your own language alongside a Vietnamese greeting makes it feel even more special to the teacher.

When should you order, and when should the flowers arrive?

Teachers’ Day 2026 falls on Friday, November 20, so I recommend ordering by Wednesday, November 18 at the latest. Right before November 20, popular flowers sell out quickly and deliveries pile up on that same morning.

WhenWhat to do
First week of NovemberCheck the school’s gift policy and the class representative’s guidance
Second week of NovemberAgree on the class amount and transfer
By Wed, November 18Order flowers and send your card message
Thu, November 19Confirm the delivery time and address one last time
Fri, November 20Delivery to your chosen time and place (check early-morning delivery times with us on Zalo in advance)

The freshest way to share your heart is to receive the flowers that morning and give them right away. If the delivery time is later than the start of school, though, receiving them the day before is perfectly fine. If the flowers need to wait a day, keep them indoors somewhere cool, cut the stems at an angle and place them in water, and they’ll stay fresh much longer.

What should you avoid giving on Teachers’ Day?

It’s best not to give a cash envelope on its own. Every school has its own gift policy, and a single family handing cash to a teacher who grades their child can easily be misunderstood. Some schools also treat gift vouchers the same as cash, so check the policy first.

As for flowers, please avoid white chrysanthemums and arrangements built around the large yellow chrysanthemums placed on altars. In Vietnam they bring ancestral rites and funerals to mind, so they don’t suit a celebration. That said, cúc họa mi, a small daisy-like chrysanthemum, is also used as a Teachers’ Day flower, so it’s worth knowing that sources differ on this point. I’ve covered flower-gifting manners in more detail in Flower-gifting etiquette in Vietnam.

Finally, I don’t recommend a gift that’s far more expensive than the rest of the class is giving. The teacher may feel uncomfortable accepting it, and it can put pressure on other parents too. On this day especially, a bouquet that’s small but chosen with care suits best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much do parents usually contribute for Vietnamese Teachers’ Day? A. There’s no fixed amount. Parents follow what the class agrees on. When collecting as a group, calculate it as number of parents × amount per person, and set it at a level that families on a tighter budget can also manage.

Q. Is it okay to give cash? A. It’s safer to avoid it. Every school has its own gift policy, and cash or gift vouchers can be misunderstood. Flowers and a card are the most comfortable choice.

Q. By when should I order Teachers’ Day flowers? A. In 2026, November 20 is a Friday, so I recommend ordering by Wednesday, November 18. Popular flowers sell out quickly right before the day.

Q. What should I write on the card? A. A short greeting like “Chúc mừng ngày Nhà giáo Việt Nam 20/11!” (Happy Vietnamese Teachers’ Day) is enough. Use cô for a female teacher and thầy for a male teacher.

It’s a day when the feelings of the children and parents in a class come together in a single bouquet, so a flower where the care shows before the size is all you need. If you’re unsure about Teachers’ Day flowers or card wording, feel free to ask us on Zalo, or take a look at HAMYFLORE’s flowers.
