If I had to recommend one Christmas bouquet in a single line, it would be red roses at the center with a few white flowers and some green leaves mixed in. It suits a partner, an elder or a coworker without any risk, and it looks the most like Christmas in photos too. This guide is based on Hamy Flore’s real products and prices in Ho Chi Minh City as of October 2026. Just decide who you are sending to, and you can pick straight from the tables below.
Which Christmas bouquet is the safest choice?
Stay within three colors — red, white and green — and you will almost never go wrong. Everyone already links those colors with Christmas, so even if the person doesn’t know a single flower name, they will see at a glance that it is a Christmas gift.
| Option | Feeling | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| All-red rose bouquet | The boldest, clearest declaration | Partner, spouse |
| Red roses + white tulips or lisianthus | Bright and festive | Parents, close friends |
| White flowers + green leaves + a red accent | Calm and elegant | Coworkers, teachers |
| Red rose flower box | Ready to display, no vase needed | Home or office, business partners |
| Potted poinsettia | A plant to enjoy for over a month | Neighbors, family homes |
Poinsettias are usually given as potted plants rather than in bouquets. If you want a bouquet, build it around roses; if you want something that lasts, choose a poinsettia pot.
What are the Christmas flowers, and what do they mean?
The flower that most represents Christmas is the poinsettia, and it stands for blessings and celebration. In December 2013, Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture and its Rural Development Administration named the poinsettia their “flower of December” and introduced it with the same meaning.
| Flower | Meaning | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Poinsettia | Blessings, celebration | The red parts are bracts, not petals |
| Red rose | Love, passion | The classic gift for a partner |
| Holly | Red berries, Christmas decoration | Only female plants grow berries |
| Christmas rose | White flower that blooms in midwinter | A cold-climate winter flower, rare in Ho Chi Minh City |
| Lisianthus | Lasting love | Softens a bouquet when mixed with roses |
| Cotton | A mother’s love | Dried, so it lasts a long time |
The red “leaves” of the poinsettia are actually leaves that wrap around the tiny flowers. Seoul’s Media Hub article on poinsettias describes them as neither flowers nor petals, but bracts. The plant is native to Mexico and takes its name from Joel Poinsett, the US minister to Mexico who brought it to the United States in the 1820s.
In Vietnam, the poinsettia is called Hoa Trạng Nguyên. The name refers to the top scholar in the old imperial exams, so it is seen as a plant that wishes success and good luck. A 2011 VnExpress report shows a Saigon family buying three red Trạng Nguyên pots to decorate their home for Christmas.
Which bouquet suits each person on your list?
The closer you are to someone, the more red you add; the more formal the relationship, the more white and green. Think of a Christmas flower gift as setting the warmth of your feelings with the amount of red. One exception — for Vietnamese recipients, always include at least a little red, even when the relationship is formal.
| Recipient | Suggested style | Hamy’s pick |
|---|---|---|
| Partner or spouse | All-red roses | Red Rose Noir Bouquet |
| Parents or elders | Red roses + white tulips | Red Rose White Tulip Grand Bouquet |
| Coworkers or teachers | White flowers + green leaves + a few red roses, small size | White Green Bouquet with red roses added |
| Vietnamese business partners | A flower box with red in it | Red Luxe Flower Box |
| Decorating your own home | A box or basket that needs no vase | The same flower box |
Once you picture the person, the size usually decides itself. If you will hand it over at a restaurant and carry it around afterward, a one-hand size is best; if it is going to a home or office, a large bouquet or a box works well. For more help choosing a shape and size, see our guide to bouquet types.
How much does a Christmas bouquet cost in Ho Chi Minh City?
At Hamy Flore, Christmas bouquets range from 400,000–2,200,000 VND at regular price. I counted the red, white and green bouquets and baskets in our product list myself and found 25, spread fairly evenly across these price ranges.
| Price range (regular) | Products | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 400,000–700,000 VND | 8 | The same bouquet for several coworkers or staff |
| 1,000,000–1,500,000 VND | 8 | A partner or a close friend |
| 2,000,000–2,200,000 VND | 9 | Parents, business partners, big celebrations |
On the left, a White Green Bouquet around 400,000 VND; on the right, the Red Rose Noir Bouquet around 1,300,000 VND
On the same budget, choosing larger, fresher roses looks better — in photos and in person — than simply adding more stems. Prices can change with promotions and flower market rates. When a discount is running, the checkout price on the product page will be lower than the table, so please check the product page or ask us on Zalo before ordering.
What’s different about giving Christmas flowers to Vietnamese people?
The biggest difference is that in Vietnam you should avoid bouquets made only of white flowers. All-white arrangements and chrysanthemums bring funerals to mind, so on a celebration like Christmas, be sure to add some red.
For young Vietnamese people, Christmas is closer to a date night with a partner. That is why most people searching in Vietnamese for “what flowers to give at Christmas” (giáng sinh tặng hoa gì) are thinking about a gift for their partner — and red roses come up again and again. If you are looking for Christmas gifts for Vietnamese women, a red rose bouquet is the answer I give most often.
Flowers and numbers to avoid, plus Vietnamese greetings for your card, are covered separately in Christmas in Vietnam — holidays and gift etiquette. Read it alongside this guide and you will be ready without any missteps.
How do you keep Christmas flowers fresh in Ho Chi Minh City’s heat?
In December, Ho Chi Minh City averages a daytime high of 31.6°C and still about 23.9°C at night (Tan Son Nhat Airport observations, Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology data). Unlike a northern winter, that warmth can make flowers wilt quickly. Simply changing the water as soon as they arrive and keeping them in a cool, shaded spot makes them last much longer.
- Cut 1–2 cm off the stem ends at an angle before putting them in water. They will drink much better.
- Change the water once a day. In hot weather it turns cloudy fast.
- Keep them away from direct sunlight and from the direct flow of the air conditioner.

Potted poinsettias like a cool spot of about 15–24°C. A cut stem releases a white sap that can make skin itchy and upset a pet’s stomach if chewed, so it is safest to keep the plant out of reach.
When should you order to receive flowers on December 24–25?
Booking your Christmas flowers by around December 17 gives you the most peace of mind. In 2026, December 24 falls on a Thursday and December 25 on a Friday, so orders and deliveries all pile up on the afternoon and evening of Christmas Eve.
On normal days we deliver within central Ho Chi Minh City in about 2 hours after an order is confirmed, but on the evening of the 24th downtown traffic gets very heavy. If you plan to hand flowers to your partner over dinner, I recommend a morning or midday delivery on the 24th.
Ordering takes four simple steps. Tell us on Zalo who the flowers are for, the date and your budget; we suggest a design, send you a photo of the finished flowers before delivery, then deliver at the time you want. Delivery areas and payment methods are in our Ho Chi Minh City flower delivery guide.
What should you write on the card?
One or two lines are plenty. A short message with the person’s name stays in their memory longer than a long one.
| Recipient | Card message ideas |
|---|---|
| Partner | Thank you for being by my side again this year. Merry Christmas |
| Parents | Thank you for everything this year. Wishing you a warm and peaceful Christmas |
| Coworker | It’s been great working with you this year. Have a wonderful Christmas! |
If you are writing to a Vietnamese friend, try adding one line: “Giáng Sinh an lành” (wishing you a peaceful Christmas). Just send us your message when you order, and we will write it on a card and tuck it into the bouquet.
